A comfortable retreat for a metropolitan escape
What a fun project!
We were asked to design a comfortable pied-à-terre in New York City for a busy Connecticut resident who needed a place to stay while in the city, and also a place for visiting friends and relatives. Starting with a rather dark, never renovated apartment, we updated all lighting, electrical and HVAC systems. All outmoded cables and cords were removed, and new HVAC cabinets were installed under windows.
The floors were refinished and the entire space painted in an uplifting white. A large bookcase was built in the dining room, creating a combination library/dining area, using the space very efficiently. New lighting fixtures were also installed throughout.
With a totally fresh and updated clean palette, we designed stylish, sculptural and clean-lined furniture and furnishings to decorate. Comfort, function and beauty were key words for the design of this very wonderful NYC pied-à-terre!
