Historic Elegance - Georgetown, DC
How exciting to move from designing waterfront properties in Florida to an historic house in DC! This gorgeous property was built in 1830 in the Federal style, and is actually two homes joined into one, creating a very spacious layout.
Our enviable task was to seamlessly upgrade the house while preserving the exquisite architectural details of the period.
The showcase kitchen was enlarged by creating a very fun and colorful bar which became its own space. A fantastic array of tiles on the backsplash gave us the color for the cabinetry. What fun this space is! Throughout, the lighting and technology was updated, and all spaces were refreshed with our favorite light tones on walls and in furnishings. A new family room was designed with stunning walnut paneling highlighting windows that showcase the beautiful garden beyond.
Custom mantels throughout were actually made in Sarasota by our favorite stone fabricator! Furniture was also custom designed to not only fit the spaces perfectly, but to create the appropriate ambiance in each space. Utilizing the client’s own family antiques and artwork gave a beautiful counterpoint to our contemporary pieces.
Truly a wonderful project working with wonderful clients!
